Sunday Random.

First things first, the winner of the manicure courtesy of wish.co.uk is ALEX! Congratulations Alex, enjoy being pampered!

This weekend has been all about relaxing. I’ve read several magazines, an entire chick-lit book and generally not done very much at all. Love it!
Today I am off for some window (ahem, yes WINDOW) shopping with best.friend. before the working week kicks off again tomorrow! Oh grown up life…

Autumn/Winter fashions are giving me crazy cravings right now, so expect some more focused lookbook posts soon,
but currently topping my list?

Swing dress from ASOS

Buckle cardi from New Look

Midi skirt from River Island

Cape from Dorothy Perkins

Given the let down of a Summer that we’ve had, weather wise at least, I think it’s only right to be planning a stylish A/W…right?

Some of the less natural snacks I’ve been enjoying lately!

How has your weekend been?

Snacking Saturday; A Natural Approach

Mulebar may not be the most attractive of names, but in the spirit of not judging a book by it’s cover, I  was excited when this box of samples for review dropped through my letter box at the end of last week.

Dedicated to 100% Natural (and tasty) Ingredients, Mulebar are the makers of energy providing bars perfect for work, play and everything in between.

You can’t help but notice these bars, the packaging is BOLD! I received a selection of the original fuel bars; in strudel (organic apple and cinnamon), summer pudding (raspberry, cranberry and blackcurrant), hunza nut (fairtrade organic apricot and walnut), chocolate fig fiesta (take a guess!) and pina colada (pineapple, coconut and goji berry).

These bars aren’t light on the calorie front, ranging from around 190, through to just over 250 but they are so energy dense and good for you…not to mention delicious that I can’t fault them. Mule bars have been associated with top athletes; which I am not, but they fit perfectly in to my lifestyle too, a portable and nutritionally sound snack for long afternoons at work or a hard day browsing the shops.

My favourite?

Chocolate + figs = two of my favourite things combined! Pina Colada was a close runner up!

Also in the box were the re-fuel recovery bars. As previously mentioned, I am no athlete, or particularly active so I can’t vouch for the effectiveness of these, but with impressive amounts of protein and really, really gorgeous flavours; Chocolate Banana and Chocolate Date these made a great pre-bed snack on my weight gain mission, and a refreshing change to artificial tasting protein bars I have tried in the past!

Also included were samples of the NEW Kicks which I haven’t tried. These I feel really are for the sporty among us and for that reason, if anyone here feels they would benefit from these then please leave a comment on this post and I will draw a recipient on Wednesday using random.org.

Just make sure you leave a way for me to contact you!

You’ll find Mule products on their website, which also has a handy list of online and actual shop stockists.

Anyone here tried Mule bars before? What did you think? I’m really  curious to track down and try the liquorice flavour bar!

What are your favourite nutritionally dense (and er, calorie dense) snacks? Girl needs ideas!

Have a good weekend!
Many thanks to Mule for the samples. I love you!

ALSO, big exciting news for UK Bloggers

The genius that is Hayles (a.k.a. my London travelling companion, fellow gin and wasabi pea lover and all round good egg) has created the…

UK BLOGGERS MAP

Basically, if you are a blogger and are in the UK, add yourself to this wonder. Don’t question it. Just do it.

Mustard

After years of searching, I think I’ve found *my* shade of yellow; Mustard. I saw this shirt in Primark a fair few weeks ago and after seeing it make appearances on a few blogs and seeing how versatile it was I regretted not snatching it up. My luck was in one evening when I won it BNWT on ebay for a mere 99p!
Shiny loafers. So bad, so good! Mum treated me to these Kate Kanzier shoes as a sensible option for when  I do my blood taking training at work (starting in the next week or so!) I seem to have a soft spot for “ugly” shoes lately and these are a) so comfortable b) so versatile I really don’t care. I first discovered Kate Kanzier last year but have waited ages to finally pick a pair….I was surprised at how true to size they are and will heading there for my work shoe (and play shoe) needs in future!
I’m loving my House of Harlow 1960 ring. I’m still in shock at how affordable it was, temptation is to get it in gold, too!
How is it Friday again? Mad times. Only 4.5 hours at work today and then I’m heading to my grandparents to have lunch cooked for me, and to generally unwind for a bit.
Weekend plans involve sleeping (tomorrow) and seeing Best.Friend. on Sunday.
Other Best.Friend. Becca gave me the shock of my life yesterday when she turned up with pixie cropped (from shoulder length) hair dyed dark purple (she was blonde)…sounds drastic but she rocks it like no other!

Beautiful Lies

This is a first for me; a film post! I love the idea of watching films, but in reality it doesn’t happen much because I was blessed with the attention span of a toddler and no matter how good the film, I end up fidgeting and missing bits,
however, this doesn’t mean I don’t take an interest and I have an ever-growing list of films I’d love to see, especially when they feature an actress I admire; and for that reason I introduce “Beautiful Lies” starring the gorgeous Audrey Tatou, probably best known for Amelie fame.

The film follows Emilie (Audrey) who receives a love letter which she initially casts off, but then after seeing the anguish that her mother is going through with the breakup of her marriage decides to rewrite the letter and send it to her mother. This then backfires as her mother, totally transformed by the words of love, spirals into a quirky and hilarious love-triangle full of comedic Genius!

30-year-old Emilie runs a hairdressing salon, and provides an endless stream of well-meaning advice to her clients and friends…

Sadly the one person she can’t seem to help is Maddy, her mother, who has given up the will to live since being left by her husband, who is now getting married to a much younger woman.

Jean, a young man who works for Emilie is secretly in love with her but a pathological shyness prevents him from declaring his feelings. Finally, unable to contain himself, he opens his heart in a passionate anonymous letter.

Emilie, entirely untouched by this secret confession love letter expresses her disinterest by throwing away the letter in front of the bashful Jean; But later, terrified to see her mother slipping deeper and deeper into despair, Emilie concocts a crazy plan: she’ll change the name at the top of the letter and send it to Maddy.

Deeply touched by this beautiful declaration of love, Maddy rediscovers the will to live and begins to watch for the mail. While she’s over the moon to see her mother returning to life, Emile is fully aware of the problems that lie ahead. Not only must she supply Maddy with more love letters, she must also find someone willing to play the author.

“Delightful, frothy, funny and romantic…”

Radio Times

“Matches the heights of Amelie…an enchanting romantic comedy”

Harvey Marcus, Marie Claire

Is this something you’ll be planning to see? I’m determined to actually go to the cinema this time rahter than wait for the DVD which I can stop and start as required (er, I started watching a film four months ago and still haven’t finished it!)

And yesterday’s outfit. Just because I had to toss it in there somewhere.

…Almost at the weekend folk!

Many thanks to Stuart for the photos and inforomation.

Spree

The result of a day shopping with my Mum…Perhaps I took celebrating payday a little too far!

Random bits from Paperchase. Thorntons chocolate, veggie Percy Pigs (although I’m not veggie, I prefer the veggie option if there is one and these are BRAND NEW), Clinique foundation + moisturiser + free gift, Hello Kitty Candles.

House of Harlow horseshoe ring…a bit of idle/random browsing in Harvey Nichols turned in to a purchase. Thankfully only a £20 purchase!

Poetic License shoes! On final clearance in TK Maxx, down to £13 and one pair left in my size. I couldn’t leave them there.

Jumper dress from Next. On the most un-jumper weather day of the year, this is what I buy!

And I wore my charity shop bargain skirt.

I should probably attempt to put myself on a spending ban for the rest of the month, but I just can’t see it happening. Uh-oh!

What did your last payday haul consist of?
