animal magic

This blouse; it must be 5/6 years old now, an impulse buy from Dorothy Perkins, unworn and languishing in my wardrobe. I re-discovered it last week whilst doing my usual “so many clothes yet nothing to wear” act and admitted defeat and placed it on the charity shop pile. Firmly embedded in my mind, a few days later I grabbed it off the pile and decided to finally try it on and see what it went with. Turns out it’s a pretty versatile top and now part of my working wardrobe.
This skirt has more than paid for itself since I snagged it in the River Island sale just after Christmas! It’s probably one of my most worn pieces, and despite the animal print it is perfect for the office.

Flash says relax.
Sorry for all the kitty pics! As you can see, someone has been milking his ordeal as much as possible. How can you refuse something so pathetic looking?

Happy Friday folk,
here’s to a quiet (violence free) weekend

Pieces.

Look who’s home! After making a stunning overnight recovery, winning a “pooper of the day” award and eating for England, Flash is now home with us. It seems like wonder cat has once again bounced back and now we have the challenge of getting him to take his medications.

Yesterday was a standard work outfit; I hate wearing the same outfit within the same week/two weeks but knowing I’d be there all day without a proper lunch break meant I went for an old faithful.

I don’t normally post a FOTD but argh, I am loving my new Clinique foundation (superbalanced makeup) worn with my favourite Topshop blusher. I thought my lipstick was brighter than it seems here, in fact I know it was! My new staple lip colour is MAC sheen supreme in Behave Yourself…the texture of these is amazing!

I’ve noticed I’m nearing 1000 followers on gfc (holy shit…not big for some, but incredible for me) so I’m planning a pretty huge (again, for me, but maybe not compared to others) giveaway to celebrate. Watch this space!

Happy Thursday Chaps! We’re almost through another week

THE shoes of the (new) season.

Another A/W lookbook post, this time for the wonderful people at Bertie!

They have a stunning range of collections coming out for the colder weather, and here are some top picks.

From the Early 20th C Rebel collection (think masculine tailoring meets witty style) I bring you Gin, £85 and Saturday, £115

Glam Rock channels Joan Jett with Kracker Red, £65 and Jackaban, £125 (my absolute favourites!)

70s NYC lends retro glamour with use of quirky fabric, tassels and stacked yet wearable heels. On the whole this is my favourite collection of the lot; Julietta Orange, £115. Massimo, £159 and Nimali Blue, £115.

What do you think? Which trend will you be channelling? I have my beady eye on Jackaban and Julietta Orange!

More Mustard

My love for this shade of yellow may soon border on obsession. Apologies for the dire quality of the photos. I’m sure there is a way around it, or a decent editing programme, but dammit, I am not a born photographer!

The tee is a new arrival to New Look and was a present from my Becca. The cardigan is another example of what New Look has to offer for the Autumn/Winter and was the product of Sunday’s window shopping!

I hope everyone living in cities affected by the riots is managing to stay safe. I’d love to write something deep and profound but I just.don’t.get.it. Checking the news this morning they have now spread down to Bristol…but why? The world confuses me sometimes.

P.S. A thank you to everyone who has expressed well wishes and kind thoughts towards Flash, who is poorly at present. Please continue them. He’s so much more than “just a cat” (which kind of cements my crazy cat lady status, but I’m cool with that)

Ahead to A/W

The Matalan Autumn/Winter 2011 look book dropped through my door some weeks ago now, and I put off looking at it for an age, because I thought it too early to think about layering up and waving goodbye to Summer.
Gradually though, photos started appearing on other blogs and my curiosity got the better of me; I dived in head first and fell utterly in love with oh, pretty much all of it!
Matalan is one of those shops that seems to get better from season to season. Gone are the days where it never crossed my mind to browse there, now it is one of my first ports of call.

Here is a little taste of what is to come…

And so the saving commences! Although to be fair, not much saving needs to go on to afford Matalan’s more than reasonable prices. Score.

Stay tuned from more from A/W…I’ve been wandering around the shops compiling massive wish lists (and may have made a sneaky purchase or two!)
