Taboo

Yesterday the weather looked SO promising. Promising enough to make me abandon tights and brave the somewhat taboo socks with sandals look.

Sadly, the weather didn’t last and by 10am we had dark skies and pouring rain, but it was fun whilst it lasted and my planned garden lazing day turned in to an impromptu hair trim (at great expense) and I’m booked in to have the colour re-done next Tuesday (at even greater expense).

Other day off adventures (well, I gotta make it sound a little exciting) involved popping round to see how my Nan is settling in at home. Hard to believe it’s been less than a week since she had her new hip! Wonder woman. I want to be like her when I grow up! I also got to see my cousin (hi Sophie) for a long, long overdue catch up!

The next couple of days are going to draaaag. Back at the over time at work…why can’t I have next week off instead?

Out of interest, how much does your hair cut cost you? For a standard wash and trim, and also for anything extra?

Esprit

Whilst shopping this weekend I found myself browsing in Esprit…a shop that hadn’t even registered on my radar until a few months ago (cheers Becca). It’s now my go-to place for jeans; and given this weekend, quite possibly dresses, and although pricey, if you catch the sales right (this weekend for example, there was a further 20% off sale prices, meaning the dress I bought was only £20) you can get a classically made high quality bargain.

I hadn’t realised until this week that they also did shoes. This could lead to trouble! Their clean cut, simple designs really appeal to me…

I love all things studded and chained. I pretty much view them as a classic and wardrobe essential.

I will ALWAYS find room in my shoe collection for wedge heel desert boots. ALWAYS.

And no-one ever needs a reason to purchase shoes when they fall under the “classic for work” category, right?

And I’ll take this bag while I’m at it…it matches the dress I bought (which will be debuted shortly).

Any other Esprit fans out there?

More Budget Workwear

Following on from last week’s workwear on a budget post, I picked up this skirt for £5 in Primark on Saturday. It was a last minute purchase; I was tired and lacking motivation to try anything on (a danger zone when trying to make a sensible purchase) but luck was on my side and I now have a fairly classic addition to my working wardrobe…

I’m pretty sure it has potential to be worn year round…knitwear and boots for the winter, of course! For something so cheap, it seems to be of pretty decent quality too.

It’s my day off today. The weather forecast predicted rain. I see sunshine. I don’t think I’ll be moving far from the garden.

Are you ever surprised of the quality of cheap clothing? I know Primark can be a bit of a taboo place to shop, but this skirt so far seems more durable than others I’ve had from far more expensive places.

P.S. thanks for the week off suggestions…lets see how many I can squish in!

Summer Staple

I spent yesterday basking in the sunshine; typically whilst still wearing tights. It’s a catch 22…I’m so pale I hate going bare legged, but clearly, I never tan because of that (well, I just don’t tan. Fact. I go a slightly darker shade of ghostly).

I wish I’d bought a few of these £7.99 h&m dresses when I first saw them in May. I didn’t see any at the weekend, only somewhat see through beach cover-ups.

What’s on the agenda this week folks?
Work, work and err, more work here. I have a busy couple of weeks and then WEEK OFF. Yay. What utterly lazy, self indulgent things can I do with my week off? Answers on a postcard (or comment) please!

In vs, Out

IN:

– Nights out! I’m getting a lot more sociable lately, and had another epic night out with Becca this weekend, followed by traditional post drinking shopping.

– Sales! Sales are on everywhere. Shopping carefully I managed to tick maxi dress off my wish list, picking up a beautiful floral number in Espirit for £20 instead of £49…score!

– Good weather…this week has been kind of beautiful.

– My Nan is already home from her hip op; she is superwoman…she was meant to be in hospital until Monday, but was actually allowed home yesterday due to her amazing progress.

Wasabi peas. Nuff said.

– Seeing Trudi. Twice in one week. Happppy. We used to be practically conjoined, but now we don’t see each other enough.

– Pay day!

OUT:

– Bad moods. Twitter followers especially might have noticed that this week has been somewhat testing, for no particular reason. Major frustration and apologies all round from being a miserable cow.

– Tiredness. I cannot move. Damn.

– Waking up at 5am despite being so tired. It happens. Every day. I am un-amused.

– Wardrobe frustration. It’s driving me mad.

– Rude people. There is NO need.

What has been good/bad for you this week?
