The Yesterday

Firstly, sorry for the splurge of posts yesterday, ever get one of those days where you just have too many ideas in your head to save for later? Yeah. With my memory it’s best to get them all out at once!

Wasn’t yesterday gorgeous (UK’ers at least?), I couldn’t help but be cheered…even work didn’t deter my enthusiasm for the weather, my desk gets the morning sun and with the window open I could have been outside.
Walking home, no coat on and bare arms was the most delightful feeling.

Anyway, enough waxing lyrical about the weather; I am a true Brit! Here’s what I wore.

You can’t really see but the tights are patterned on the front and block black on the back (thanks Hannah!)

Accessorised with Timex watch (ugh to the time!) and Ruby Rae Love bracelet

And my all-time favourite necklace from Go Jewellery

And lastly,
now I know Matt has received his fiver challenge parcel, here is what I made.

P.S. tomorrow is the closing date for the London Wishes giveaway…enter now!

Are you a flip flop snob?

I could actually date the origins of this post back to last Summer, where I was once again bemoaning the demise of my £1 Primark flip flops after only a couple of days.
Previously I had never thought of flip flops as something worth investing in…I mean surely foam and plastic were one and the same no matter what the price?

I got mixed responses, some people, like me simply replaced the cheap pair with another cheap pair (I easily spent £20 doing this, and the rest!)
The others swore by Havianas, lasting them all Summer and beyond making them worth the price tag.

Enthused by this news I ordered two (pink and black, because I couldn’t decide) of Havianas, although I am yet to wear them because face it…it’s hardly flip flop weather outside right now…and by this point it was the end of last Summer and time to move on to more covered shoes.
I’m looking forward to breaking in these pillows of heaven (if hype is to be believed) and apparently saving myself time and money in not constantly having to replace…
but is this true?
Have I been suckered in, or are these really superior footwear? I don’t give harsh wear to my flip flops…a quick trip to the shops, or pottering around the house and garden is about my limit, so I’ll admit my hopes are high.
What is your experience?

Here are some styles catching my eye right now!

My classic black pair, still sat pristine inside the box waiting for warmer days (blue feet are SO last season)

I really like the FIT style, they look like a comfier alternative to gladiator type sandals that kill my feet, and yet I still insist on wearing!

Silver…because everyone’s feet need a bit of bling (except mine which fail to turn even the slightest bit golden in the Summer and therefore metallic make them look like corpse feet)

This is the other pair I have. I’m a girly girl who loves pink, and when I find the perfect slouchy jeans I plan to wear these with pride.

SO,
opinions wanted! Have I wasted my money,
will I be left sobbing on my way to Primark to hand over my last £1 for some emergency replacements
or am I right in thinking it’s ok to become a bit of a flip flop snob?

I’d also like to know where you get your old faithfuls from.

after the overload

To balance out this mornings sugar overload of a post, I thought it timely to pop up my review of some sugar-free goodies that the lovely folks at Sweet Junkie sent me to review…

Now you know, I’m a BIG sugar addict and have nothing against eating sugar filled goodness on a regular basis,
but sometimes I want something to munch on that isn’t going to give me a massive sugar rush, or I feel like being a bit kinder to my teeth, and at those times I reach for sugar free sweets.

I normally pick up whatever is available in my town (er, about two varieties then) or stock up on visits to places further away,
but now…Sweet Junkie has my heart (and soul) for their extensive range, awesome-ly designed website and fabulous service.
What I really love about Sweet Junkie is the care they put in to sourcing their sweets, I follow them on twitter and know they do extensive tasting before decided what to stock. This is very much appreciated, especially when it comes to sugar-free as some of the sweets can taste very artificial. These don’t! The orange and lemon slices (at the front) were my favourite…I did have to check a few times that I hadn’t picked up normal sweets instead!

For those who are sugar purists, Sweet Junkie also sell regular sweets including retro favourites
but if you can’t tolerate sugar, are health conscious or want a gift for someone who can’t eat sugar then you are well advised to check out their range (and slip in some more for me, please!)

P.S. you can follow them on twitter, here

So bad it’s actually *good* for you.

When in a foul tempered over-tired and all round miserable state there really is no better remedy than throwing together as much sugar/syrup/butter/chocolate as you can find and making a batch of Rocky Road
(that you are then too tired to contemplate eating).

Work are going to love me. Fact.

Pink wafer biscuits, marshmallows, white chocolate chips and honeycomb pieces. I have no idea how much of what I used…it was a case of chuck it all together and hope for the best.

The chocolate coating consists of 225g un-salted butter, 2tbsp cocoa powder, 2tbsp caster sugar, 2tbsp golden syrup and 100g plain chocolate.
Melt all that together, leave to cool for ten minutes or so, then add in your sugary goodness.

(you could use anything you want; dried fruit, malteasers, biscuits, mini eggs, gummy bears….)

I started off with bite sized pieces, then got bored and smushed the rest in to a lined tray.

Chilled it in the fridge for a couple of hours,

and voila!

The bigger one was still setting, hence no photo. Apologies for the shocking photo quality, my camera was throwing a hissy fit and I really didn’t have the energy to fight it!

Onwards and upwards.

((Ironic that I work in a doctors surgery full of chocoholics, right?))

Let me know if you make this and what your favourite combinations are!

I might not have green fingers…

Just a super quick outfit post today, I’ve been awake since 3:30am (ish) and have very little to say for myself as a consequence.

I have a new found love for this shade of green (jade?). The top is a recent New Look purchase.

Started my increased hours/official induction at work yesterday, I’m a tad brain-dead right now. I’m meant to be shopping with Mum today but the weather is making it look doubtful, boo to rain…I’m sure Spring is supposed to be sunny.

I hope your weeks are getting off to a grand start
