Mellow Yellow

Oh Monday, how you creep round so fast…this weekend has flown by which is a shame because it was totally awesome. It’s always the dullest of days that drag at a snails pace.

Yesterday Mum and I ventured over to T.K. Maxx where I was amazed to find Henry Holland house print tights for £3! I already had the black pair but picked up a pair of the nude with black houses on (well, it would have been downright RUDE not to!) Any one in my area, the Weston-Super-Mare store is the neatest laid out one I have seen and they loads of gorgeous clothes as well as a LOT of branded makeup etc.

To brighten up the fact it’s Monday I teamed my Matalan Daisy dress with some now very faded Primark mustard coloured tights. The shoes are also Matalan, an absolute steal in their sale a year ago at £7.

For what mainly started as a fashion blog, I’ve come to realise maybe isn’t about fashion after all. I don’t post runway reports, nor many trend related things. It’s more about personal style and places I love to shop and share. I’m not a massive trend follower, for me it’s about finding things that suit me, and that I feel comfortable in…and if it happens to be on trend for this particular season then that’s just a bonus!

Anyway,
I was utterly moved to tears by the comments on my post yesterday. I’m glad I managed to reach people and maybe, just maybe give some hope. I do hope I don’t come across as preachy or patronising though.

For you. Thank you.

A Bit more Bling

I told you there was more jewellery coming and here it is!

Jon Richard jewellery!

This post is really only an introduction as I plan on featuring the individual pieces as I wear them, but for those of you not familiar with the brand here’s a bit of background information;

“It’s our philosophy that makes our inspirational jewellery brand so unique. We believe that you have to be out there yourself to see what’s going on. That’s why our buying team is 100 per cent fashion focused. They visit catwalk shows and exhibitions and travel the world to discover the trends that help us create stunning pieces. We cater to every woman’s taste – from funky fashionistas to style-savvy fifty somethings and blushing brides. Jewellery for individuals that’s beautifully packaged to give the ultimate wow factor.”

Jon Richard Jewellery caters a range of brands stocked online and throughout Debenhams stores, such as Jon Richard, Mood, Simply Silver, Betty Jackson and Matthew Williamson. We also work with Swarovski collections. For A/W’11, we are starting to supply Designers at Debenhams with jewellery and accessories for Star by Julien Macdonald, Principles by BENdiLISI and Jasper by Jasper Conran.

The pieces are entirely stunning, each in their own way, of note are the Swarvoski crystal earrings and the amazing skull ring
(oh, and the cat brooch which Mum promptly swiped!)

Seriously.Besotted.

The interpol gig Saturday night was the perfect time to debut the Skull ring

A skull ring has been on my lust-list for a long, long time so to say I was delighted to receive this is probably the understatement of the year (so far!)

I can’t wait to wear and share the other pieces…
what has caught your eye on the website? Which collection best suits your personality?

This one is for YOU

(photo from weheartit)

This week I have noticed more than ever a lot of people having a really tough time of things. This makes me sad…I want to reach out and fix everything for everyone, but I am only one person and I still have to work on fixing myself.

What I’d like to say is don’t give up hope. No matter how bad/sad/utterly shite things are right now…brighter days are ahead. I wish I could promise when, and how it’ll happen, but I can’t…just trust me that those days ARE coming.

I was once a person so consumed in negativity that I couldn’t imagine anything good happening to me at all,
and if it did…did I deserve it? I felt like I didn’t…catch 22 circle of more negative thoughts.
Last year I dared to hope. Sure it took a long hard fight, but you know what? Every barrier broken…every glimmer of things changing for the better made me fight that bit harder. I remember being SO happy when I came home on my first day leave and I was able to walk up and down our stairs,
to most people that would be insignificant, but to me it meant the world.
Focus on the small things…as Tesco would say, every little helps and you need to learn to walk before you can run.

(also from weheartit)

Some of you probably want to punch me right now, or think I’m just one big walking cliche,
but please…
do dare to hope and have dreams. The pay off is amazing. Once you start to believe things can and will get better, I think it becomes easier to make the steps needed.

Here are a few items on my Hit List and Shit List this week;

Hit:
– Work
– My brother being home for the weekend and meeting his girlfriend (who is lovely, really lovely)
– SUNSHINE! These brighter days are making me act like a child
– Immature giggling fits, usually bought about by Sarah
– Amazing online friends, such as Char and Jodie who sent me this incredible parcel

– Interpol, they were bloody brilliant!
– Sparkly Jewellery (some seen yesterday and another awesome batch to be revealed this week!)

Shit:
– Violent drunk guy at Interpol. This guy truly scared me. He was horrendously drunk and grabbed one girls hair, stomped on many feet and started several fights.
– Anxiety and Insecurity about how I look and needing constant reassurance (sorry tweety peeps you get the brunt of this)

Photobucket

(thank you for making me feel beautiful)

– Crappy support acts. The main talent was his arrogance and ego.
– Not having enough time to see everyone I was to see…Kez, Trudi and co…I MISS YOU

So there we have my jumbled up post for today.

What have you been up to this weekend?

How do you deal with the tough times?

London Wishes

You have have noticed a pretty little banner in my side bar by now. It comes from two beautiful girls named Caithlin & Eva whom I have been e-mailing back and forwards with for some time now.

They own an online shop named London Wishes and I’m supporting them 100% on their adventures in pretty jewellery.

Here’s a bit about the girls from Eva herself;

Caithlin & me have been making little pieces of jewellery for years, at the beginning we gave them to our families and later on to friends. They have encouraged us to start London Wishes on line; but it wasn’t easy at all, it’s being hard but we firmly believe that “when there’s a will there’s a way”

London Wishes specializes in limited edition pieces and vintage inspired jewellery. We are from London & Madrid and love afternoon tea, our wellington boots for festivals, animals, nature and getting lost looking for special places.
Our pieces are inspired by romance, cupcakes and candles…
Welcome to our whimsical world”

The girls kindly sent me a package stuffed full of pretty things, I plan to show them individually as I wear them, but here is a sneak peek at what was inside.

My favourite piece has to be the bracelet, it is very apt don’t you think?

Photobucket

I’m wearing it today, along with a bargain outfit consisting of £5 flared jeans and a £3 vintage jumper (with a £1.99 New Look cami underneath…these are brilliant basics, I have several!)

I really am starting to appreciate jeans and trousers and realising they can be just as flattering on me as any dress or skirt. Now I’m working it’s nice to use the weekend for more “dressed down” days!

Anyway,
You can follow the lovely London Wishes girls on twitter
and coming soon will be YOUR chance to win any item you like from the London Wishes website.

Have a Happy Saturday everyone, whatever you are doing!
I’m so excited for Interpol with Dad and Bro tonight!

My Bestest Joined Up Handwriting

…or not.

The ever gorgeous and wonderful Char has not only provided me with Fruitella and a Red Nose this week, but also tagged me for this handwriting post.

I am a handwriting geek, I love looking at how other people write. This possibly wasn’t the best day for me to choose to do this…I ended up handwriting over 100 envelopes for work after some printer fail but hey-ho…It’s pretty neat considering!

((please note my paper is not as snazzy as Char’s lego stuff…thanks med reps for the awesome stationary though))

These were the rules

1. name and blog name
2. url
3. write ‘a quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog’
4. favourite quote
5. favourite song
6. favourite band(s), artist(s)
7. anything else you wish to say..

Photobucket

I would like to tag EVERYONE because as I mentioned above, I love seeing other people’s writing.

I hate how little I handwrite these days, I am penpals with a couple of bloggers but would happily accept more *hint*

Happy Friday loves

and thank you once more for the incredible feedback on this week’s posts. I can feel my confidence growing because of it.
