Matalan S/S11

I was pretty gutted not to be able to make it up to London the other week for Matalan’s Spring/Summer 2011 press day, but I needn’t have worried…a couple of days later the new Look Book landed on my doorstep along with some pretty little things so I’m still able to share a few of my favourite pieces with you! With Christmas looming Summer may feel a long way away, but it’ll be here before we know it!

I’m loving (of course) the prominence of florals, and stripes; two of my favourite things ever. I’m already dreaming of summer days and nights wearing the fabulous jumpsuits and dresses. And please, don’t get me started on the shoes! There are strong influences from the 50s, 60s and 70s and together they make one awesome collection that I cannot wait to shop!

What I’m sharing is only a very small selection of what I love, because otherwise we could be here forever! Enjoy…

Like I said, this really is only the smallest selection, there are SO many killer pieces. The shoes and bags are second to none, both on looks AND price!

I also have a few homeware favourites to share, but that will be saved for another post!

What do you think?! Would you like to see some more of the lookbook? Let me know, I’m happy to share!

Outfit + New Favourite Lipgloss

Today marks 12 weeks since I came home from hospital, is that not crazy?! Yeah. The weather has warmed up a little (i.e. temperature is now above freedom) so I took the oppurtunity to wear something that doesn’t require a zillion layers!

This shirt dress is at least four years old, quite possibly older than that. I found it in a GAP outlet shop and don’t wear it a lot because it’s dry clean only and I have a tendency to spill things.

I’ve also recently become an Eyeko Ambassador and after making my first sale they sent me one of their lipglosses in Primrose Hill

I’ll admit, I was dissapointed. I’m not really a lipgloss girl, I find it sticky and annoying and I’d rather wear a tinted lipbalm or nude/pale pink lipstick.

The colour is pretty, described as:

A pretty lilac shimmer for girls on the go. This suits-all shade is ultra flattering.

And I think I’ve found a lipgloss I’ll wear. It’s a little sticky, but not enough to annoy me. The smell is gorgeous! And the colour? Well perfect for a low key but polished look!

An added bonus is it’s left my lips feeling in good condition, this cold weather has wreaked havoc on them, and sometimes I find lip products just irritate this. Eyeko are surely on to a winner!
Next on my to try list is their famed Fat Balms, though I can’t decide between Toffee and Frosting

If you fancy trying Eyeko for yourself you can use my code E12740 and get a free gift when you spend £15 or more!
I totally recommend the lipgloss, the cream and the nail polishes!
If you’ve used Eyeko before I’d love to know what you think and for you to help me make a fat balm decision!

Follow up- Meet Florence and the Machines

You may remember that way back in September I posted about a competition to design Florence’s stage outfit for her performance at the high profile ‘Terminal 5’ in New York.

*original post*

Well, the competition has since ended and I thought I’d do a follow up on the winner and their design.

You can view all the finalists entries here

Florence chose the winner of the Talenthouse.com fashion design competition out of almost 800 entries. The winner got her design created and styled by Aldene Johnson for her stage performance in New York at terminal five. The winner was also flown to NY to meet Florence and see her winning piece styled on her for the show.

Here are some photos of the winning outfit.

What do you think?
Did any of my readers enter the competition? I’d love to see your designs if you did!

Happy Friday

So.

So, last night I discovered I do not like mulled wine. It tastes like Whittards smells, which isn’t a bad thing exactly, just not for me!
I also discovered how much I had missed spending time with my friends, and that I need to make more of an effort to socialise!
My friend’s flat is lovely. Her engagement ring is lovely. Her fiance is lovely. My friends are lovely, and I am so grateful they’ve stuck by me this year!

Today’s outfit involves colour! I love this skirt, I picked it up a couple of years ago in Yellow Shop in Bath. It was only about £10 and I wish I’d got more!

The outfit will be somewhat ruined by the addition of cardigans, socks and long boots when I venture out in the still bitter cold to meet another friend for coffee. I’m so over this weather, really! The temperatures are meant to get above freezing today, but seeing is believing!

All Black

Wednesday…mid-week and 17 days until Christmas; this is utter madness!

Today I’m wearing all black, it was accidental, usually I try and inject some colour, but I like it!
The skirt was a New Look sale buy from a few years ago, you can’t really see but as well as the gold buttons it also have a brocade pattern high-lighted with golden threads.

The boots were sent to me by a lovely friend (Hi Jo!) and I live in them. So versatile!

What have you been up to this week? I’m finally getting my social life going tonight, making a long over-due visit to see a friend’s new flat and her shiney engagement ring (congrats Lou, again!). Ooh that seems so horribly grown up!
