08.01 so over it

I’m so over this cold weather. I hate how frumpy wearing so many layers makes me feel, and how painful being outside is.
I envy the kids off school, who are laughing, screaming and building snowmen whilst I’m stuck shivering and dreading have to go outside.

Still, no sign of it letting up for a while, so better get used to it. Here are a couple more outfits that are put together out of warmth, and layering potential rather than what I’d actually like to be wearing.

As much as I love my pretty wellies I hate how cumbersome they are to walk in and I’m finding myself lusting over high heels and summer sandals more so than ever before!

I hope everyone is staying safe and warm, what are your weekend plans?

06.01 snow business

Oh yes, another snow filled blog post. Up until last night, unlike much of the UK, we had avoided major snow,
well, upon waking this morning I was greeted with

For many, this will seem like nothing. But for where I live, this is a LOT of snow!

Sadly, I HAVE to go out, which means an outfit full of layers and the addition of wellies.
Here is the basis of my outfit, before cardigans and coat, scarf etc were added.

I’m expecting the village to be a ghost town, we have a large elderly population who won’t want to venture out,
and although people have gone in to work, many left on foot, not brave enough to attempt driving.
My dad, on the other hand, decided snow was no match for him and left for his job on the other side of the city! I’m not sure if he’s actually there yet (three hours after leaving!)

Have a great day,
and stay warm

04.01 outfits

Good morning, Happy Monday (first one of 2010!)
Does life get back to normal for everyone today? In terms of work, school etc? It does here, parents both back in work, and I have my first doctors appointment of the year *rolls eyes*

Here are two outfits, one from yesterday (note the thermal top) and today. It’s so cold out, dressing is definatley all about staying warm, rather than looking good. Doubling up on tights, or tights under leggings, camisoles, thermals and cardigans. I’ll be so happy when this cold snap is over, though it’s meant to get worse before it gets better. Any Aussie/NZ bloggers fancy adopting me?

I decided against making formal New Years resolutions as I can’t stand the sense of failure that comes with not achieving them, but I do have some goals in mind that I’d LIKE to make happen.

– cut down on smoking (more incentive in that prices of cigarettes have risen now VAT has returned to 17.5%!)
– read more…any book recs?
– spend more time on hair, nails etc. This is something I often neglect, deeming myself un-worthy (as silly as that may sound) but something that always makes me feel good when I make the effort. I’ve made good headway with this due to re-newed nail polish addiction!

Oh, and I may regret this, but I made a formspring, so ask away!

02.01 clean slate

Well, internet has been fixed so it’s fresh starts all around. Again, Happy New Year to you all, I hope you had a fabulous NYE, what did you do? I had my planned relaxing evening, spent mainly with my head in a book, though I admit I fell asleep shortly before midnight. I am clearly an OAP in disguise.

Back to work and normal routine today, I’m kind of sad that the festive season is over. But very pleased to get life back on track! People say January is the most depressing month, but I’m inclined to disagree, I see it more of a clean slate, an adventure that can shape the 12 months ahead.

Here is what I wore yesterday for a very low key and lazy New Years Day

I found this dress lurking in my wardrobe still with tags from when I bought it in the Summer! Teamed with tights it made a fine outfit for Winter, though with this cold weather a cardigan was rapidly added!

I’ve still not hit the sales! Though I did buy a 10ml bottle of Harajuku Lovers “Baby” perfume for £6.25 in Boots, so perhaps, techincally I have sales shopped just not for clothes!
